CASE STUDIES
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant:
The National Regulatory Commission (NRC) placed a mandatory requirement on The TVA, Browns Ferry plant to clean their residual heat removal service water (RHRSW) pit. The RHRSW pit had accumulated large amount of sedimentation, silt and fresh water shells (mussels, clams, etc.) over the years. The long and narrow access to the RHRSW pit presented a very difficult problem, and would allow to any confined space entry. The only solution would be to clean the pit with a remote operated vehicle (ROV) cleaning machine. Klear Blue Tek provided the necessary Robotic Cleaning equipment and expertise to successfully complete the mandatory requirement for TVA.
"We had a mandated cleaning requirement from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for an area in our facility where we could not permit divers due to dangerous confined space issues," said Jack Watson, Project Manager of the Tennessee Valley Authority Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant. "We had other contractors attempt to come up with a solution and fail due to the long, narrow access to the area. After running out of options, we discovered Klear Blue Technologies. They were able to successfully clean the area with their ROV crawling robot where no other options were available."
